Mother and Child Reunion*

That tiny little hand grabbing onto her mums shoulder, secure, held, lifted, loved.


Mum, seriously ill in hospital, aged 69, she cried out for her mum, as did I.


Another mother, drifting in morphine, teaspoons stirring in the conservatory, tulips warmed open, Grandpa's ticking clock losing time, motorbike pulls up at the door. "Hello Mummy"

Her arm clutches by instinct.


*I can't for the life of me Remember a sadder day

Though it seems strange to say I never been laid so low In such a mysterious way And the course of a lifetime runs Over and over again*
